God is merciful, but is also judicious.

There are different speculations about whether God exists or not, and if he does exist, He cannot be merciful.

This speculation is the fact that we witness so much of atrociousness every day, the newspapers and the social media are filled with it. When we hear about such incidents, it does take a toll on our faith about the existence of God and His merciful nature.

The amount and nature of sexual harassments, murders, kidnappings and other such atrocities for some minute self-interest, just to amplify one’s ego, or in the name of religion. It is disturbing and unquestionably undesirable. The nature of natural disasters, wars, incidents where children, women are not spared. An innocent kid loses his parents and is left alone in this world. A woman stands helpless, holding pieces of her small child. Where can one go in this smoke of bombs?

People do ask, where is God now? What was the fault of those innocent children, or those mothers?

Let me start by clarifying that I do not in any way justify those atrocities. But I would like that we as humans look at the problem a little closely, not sentimentally, but critically.

Most of these incidents, when compared with the scriptural study, are a result of one faltering in their duties. I understand that these incidents happened earlier too, even in a different era from now, as the scriptures show expiation for those actions. But the percentage and intensity have undoubtedly risen now. And the reason for that is lack of spiritual knowledge coupled with exposure to that kind of entertainment continuously by the new generation.

Now blaming God for our own stupidity and disobedience is foolish. In fact, if we watch our actions collectively, then it is due to God’s grace and mercy and due to some devout persons that we are alive today. Or else the world should’ve ended already.

Secondly, if we see our lives personally, God has already given us more than what we deserve.

Now, what do I mean by saying that God is judicious?

God’s mercy is not just universal but personal, too. And the fact that He is judicious, he cannot be fooled. Not by us, not by anyone else. So about the atrocities that the people are going through, and sometimes when we face those kinds of incidents, we must know and have faith in God that people who do wrong will face the consequences of it.

That is why Hell is justified. It is for the people who seem to have gone unpunished by the judicious system of this world, go and suffer for their actions there. Just like every state has a jail, similarly, for those who do not obey the law, there is jail. In which they face the consequences of their sins, which are therefore nullified and they get a chance to act better in their next life.

Also, the judicious system of God is governed by His law, that is, the laws of Karma. What I urge is, we should not hold enmity and vengeance for the people who have hurt us, as it is like holding a burning coal in our hands to throw at someone. It hurts us until we hold it, even for a second. Leave it to the justice of God, because He is more potent than us, and He can do better justice to us that what we can to ourselves. All we need is some faith and patience.

His justice is fulfilling and satisfying to our soul. Our vengeance will make us responsible for our actions. Let Him do it. As our father, as our well-wisher, it will make us get closer to Him, while we are taking our own revenge will throw us away from Him.
