The story of Govardhan Sheth of Mangrol

The story of Govardhan Sheth of Mangrol
There was merchant named Govardhan in Mangrol. When people bought goods from him, he would accept money if they gave him, else he would write it down,” In Swaminarayan’s account!”

He didn’t write the names or address of the customers!

The fellow devotees felt that business should be done correctly, in this way he would run bankrupt.

They informed it to Lord Swaminarayan! Lord Swaminarayan replied,” What? He writes in my account. Then it is my duty to keep his business running! Let him do it the way he wants, I’ll take care of everything!” But we shouldn’t do it just like that, if we have such faith in heart, we must do it, or else, strive to have such faith in God. Those people were ready to die for God. They weren’t concerned about the world and even their bodies. For them, God was everything.

We shouldn’t imitate the greats, but we should take inspiration and act accordingly.

God provides to the sinners, so wouldn’t he provide to devotees who are dependant on him completely.
But we need to have faith in God.
Hence he said, mudh jahihi dhanagam trishna, kuru sadbuddhi Manasi vi trishna.

So we need to worship God along with such a sentiment of satisfaction. We should be happy with what we get after we endeavour sincerely to acquire something, whether it be a salary or a childhood dreams.
