After Mukund Das became a saint, his sister Dhanbai wanted to meet him. So she came from Amrapar to Gadhada and requested t
o Shreeji Maharaj that she wanted to meet her brother. Maharaj did not like it but agreed and gave the order for Muktanand Swami to meet his sister. Muktanand Swami obeyed all the commands of Maharaj and this was not any different. But in accordance with the regulations of sainthood, Swami knew he could not meet her directly and instead sang a kirtan in front of Maharaj. Dhanbai heard this song and was so happy and understood the greatness of Shreeji Maharaj that in the end she decided to stay in Gadhada forever and took up sainthood to become a sankhya yogi.
Verse 1
મોહનને ગમવાને ઇચ્છો માનની,
ત્યાગો સર્વે જુઠી મનની ટેકજો;
પતિવ્રતાનો ધર્મ અચળ કરી પાળજો.
હરિ ચરણે રહેજો અબળા થઇ છેકજો. મોહનને ૧
If you wish to be adored by Lord (Mohan), then relinquish all your minds understanding and decisions. Become a Pativrata (be single mindedly devoted) to the feet of Lord (Hari) like a weakling. (meaning not to become proud of one’s qualities).
વળી એક વાત કહું છું અધિક વિવેકની,
સાંભળ બેની તારા સુખને કાજ જો;
હરિજન સંગે રાખો પૂરણ પ્રીતડી,
ત્યાગો મદ મત્સર જુઠી કુળલાજ જો. મોહનને ર
One more wise advice I would give to for your happiness. Have utmost affection for devotees of God, and let go of ego, envy and unnecessary regard of this world.
સુખદાયક તું જાણે સુંદર શ્યામને,
અતિ દુઃખદાયક મન પોતાનું જાણજો,
મુક્તાનંદનો નાથ મગન થઇ સેવજો,
સમજી વિચારી બોલો અમૃત વેણ જો. મોહનને ૩
Know God to be the source of all pleasure, and your mind to be the most miserable. Delight in serving Muktanand Swami’s Master (Lord Swaminarayan), and speak wisely nectar like words!
Verse 2
સાંભળ બેની હરિ રીઝ્યાની રીતડી,
મોહનવરને માન સંગાથે વેરજો,
સાધન સર્વે માન બગાડે પળ વિષે,
જેમ ભળીયું પય સાકરમાં અહિ ઝેર જો. સાંભળ ૧
Dear sister, let me tell you how to please the Lord. He has enmity with ego. All our our efforts are wasted in a second because of ego, just like sweet milk is wasted by poison!
દાસી થઇને રહેજે દિનદયાળની,
નીચી ટેલ મળે તો માને ભાગ્ય જો,
ભવ બ્રહ્માદિકને નિશ્ચે મળતી નથી,
પુરુષોત્તમ પાસે બેઠાની જાગ્ય જો. સાંભળ ર
Stay a maid of Lord, and believe yourself to be lucky even if you get menial service of Lord. Even the greats like Brahma and Bhav (Shivji) don’t get the opportunity to sit near Purushottam. (Lord Swaminarayan)
પ્રીત કરે પુરુષોત્તમ સાથે નિત્ય નવી,
દાજીશમાં દેખી કેનું સન્માન જો,
મુક્તાનંદનો નાથ મગન થઇ સેવજો,
તો રીઝે રસિયો સુંદરવર કાન જો. સાંભળ ૩
Renew your love for God and don’t be jealous seeing someone praised! Delight in serving Muktanand Swami’s Master (Lord Swaminarayan), then the loving and most beautiful Lord will be pleased by you!Verse 3
કાન કુંવરની રીત સુણી મનમાં ધરો,
તો તમે રહેશો મગન સદા હરિ સંગજો;
પુરુષોત્તમને નથી કોઇ પર પોતાતણું;
પૂરણકામ ન રાચે કેને રંગજો. કાન ૧
Let me now tell you the mysterious ways of lord, knowing which you’ll always delight with devotees. God doesn’t own or alienate anyone, he isn’t influenced by anyone!(Here we need to understand that he is not like us humans that he will partial towards the people who please him. He does reciprocate genuine love of devotees)
કરુણાનિધિમાં કામાદિક વ્યાપે નહિ;
ઇર્ષ્યા માન તણો નહિ અંતર લેશજો;
કડવાં વેણ કહે પોતાના દાસને,
ઔષધ સમ આપે ઉત્તમ ઉપદેશજો. કાન ર
કરુણાનિધિમાં કામાદિક વ્યાપે નહિ;
ઇર્ષ્યા માન તણો નહિ અંતર લેશજો;
કડવાં વેણ કહે પોતાના દાસને,
ઔષધ સમ આપે ઉત્તમ ઉપદેશજો. કાન ર
God is the ocean of compassion. There is no possibility of lust, envy, ego etc in him. He utters seemingly harsh words, but they are like bitter medicines which are actually the best advices!
જે જે વચન કહે સુંદરવર શ્યામળો,
સુખ ઉપજે તેમ કરવો શુદ્ધ વિચારજો;
મુક્તાનંદનો નાથ સદા સુખદાઇ છે,
એવું જાણી કરજો પૂરણ પ્યારજો. કાન ૩
All the precepts of Lord are for our benefit, that’s the sentiment that we need to develop! The Lord of Muktanand swami is forever our well wisher, thinking this love him with your heart and soul!
Verese 4
સુખસાગર હરિવર સંગે સુખ માણજો,
અતિ ઘણી મહેર કરી છે શ્રી મહારાજ જો;
પુરુષોત્તમ સાથે પૂરણ સગપણ થયું,
આપણ તુલ્ય નહિ કોઇ બીજું આજ જો. સુખસાગર ૧
Delight with the ocean of happiness, Lord, he has been extremely kind and gracious to us! We have been related and connected to God, no one is as lucky as us today!
રવિ મંડળમાં રાત તણું દુઃખ નવ નડે,
પારસ પામે ધન દુર્બળતા જાય જો;
તેમ પ્રગટ પુરુષોત્તમને જે જે મળે,
તેનો મહિમા ભવ બ્રહ્માદિક ગાયજો. સુખસાગર ૨
There is no fear of night in sun’s abode, and there is no poverty where we have parasmani. (a magic stone that turns iron in gold). Similarly, whoever met Lord Swaminarayan, their glory is sung by Brahma and Shivji!
તન અભિમાન તજે પૂરણ સુખ પામીએ,
શામળીયા સંગ વાધે સાચી પ્રીતજો;
મુક્તાનંદ કહે મર્મ ઘણો છે એ વાતમાં,
જાણી લેજો અતિ ઉત્તમ રસ રીતજો. સુખસાગર ૩
Letting go of bodily ego is the way to find true and ultimate love for God. I, Muktanand Swami say that this is the essential advice and the best way to love and be loved by God!
