Is Ram really a God or just a character in the novel Ramayan?

Dear sir, would you call the Quran just a novel? Or the people talked about therein as characters? Maybe no.

Similarly, the Ramayan is not a novel, it is a spiritual scripture of Hinduism. Do not mistake it for a novel.

Lord Ram is really God. But to understand and accept that, one has to take some time and read or listen to good scriptures or lesson, and have some faith and respect for God.
However, whether Lord Ram is a God or a fictional character in Ramayana depends entirely on your perspective and interpretation of the text.

  • Ram as a Divine Being:
  • Religious Context: In Hinduism, Ramayana is considered an Itihasa, a sacred text recounting the life of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. Ram is believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu, descended to Earth to vanquish the demon king Ravana and uphold righteousness.
  • Characteristics and Actions: Rama’s portrayal in the epic paints him as a perfect being. He embodies ideal qualities like truth, compassion, courage, and devotion. His actions, like conquering Ravana and rescuing Sita, are seen as divine interventions to restore balance and order.
  • Devotional Practices: Millions of Hindus across the world revere Ram as a deity. They offer prayers, sing hymns, and celebrate festivals like Ram Navami in his honor, seeking blessings and guidance.

So, if we let go of the sins of doubts and preconceptions, we will see Lord Ram in our heart.😇

  1. You asked if anyone asked Quran as a novel , well for your information Ramayana was a novel. As it had a story. Where Quran is a informatic book. What, when , how to do things for your religion. If you dont have answers stop Unnecessary comparisons.

    1. Hey, thank you for the comment and the kind advice.

      So to reply,
Ramayan and Mahabharat are called Itihas meaning history. That is because it has clear accounts of kings before Lord Ram and Lord Krishna etc respectively. Along worh the accounts, it has discussions, wisdom and path therefore shown for the followers to progress in spiritual life while in this world.

I apologize that I did not mention that I have extracted this question from my quora account where I was asked this question by a Muslim. So the reference to Quran was just to point at the utter disregard and ignorance that is shown towards a sacred Vedic Scripture by calling it a novel.

I will add the link to the quora question so that my answer doesn’t appear to be out of context as it appeared to you.
