Should devotees take milk which is produced by violence?

Answer:

Milk can be very well be taken without causing any violence to the cow, that’s the traditional way of doing it.

The mother feeding the child is an act of love; it isn’t that the child is forcing the milk out of her and hurts her.

Even today, who have been brought up with traditional values, they treat cows with great respect and love.

They aren’t to be squeezed till the blood comes out; it is to be done till it is exhausted lovingly.

Today, the view of cow is not as a mother, it is not even as a conscious being, it is treated like a milk producing machine. Just as we do with any other object, we extract as much as we can out of it.

This is brutal and should be avoided and banned. We as devotees should be sensitive. The best way is that we don’t take milk, which is commercially produced. If we try a bit, we will find a local milk person, who takes care of cows well.

It is easily accessible in India.

If we take products that include violence, then we are fuelling and financing such violence.

Scriptures tell us to take milk. If we are said not to take milk, then it is a non-Vedic alternative.  We must try to take milk where there is no violence and not go to extremes and condemn who take commercial milk.
